Plants for Fish
Basically you have two main categories to choose from, living or plastic.
In general live plants provide the following benefits to your aquarium:
1. Plants provide hiding places for fish reducing stress. Young fish need areas to hide themselves from other larger fish.
2. Plants filter bacteria from your system.
3. There are a number of varieties of water plants available which all differ in appearance, growth rate, height and sensitivity.
4. Plants consume carbon dioxide and enrich the water with oxygen often negating the need for additional airation equipment.
Plasic plants can be a good option if you have problems with your fish eating the living plants. Also, the verieties available may be more exotic than
what could normally survive in your tank ie. tropical plant in a cold water tank.
